Romney's birther joke wasn't planned, says adviser
Looks like nobody in the Romney campaign wants to fall on his or her sword for the big man. Given Romney’s adversarial history with his campaign staff (firing his debate coach after he was given credit for Romney’s performance in the primary) this might be a further sign that his campaign isn’t really playing with their hearts in the game.
